So this morning, standing on the el platform at Belmont Ave, waiting for a Red Line train, I heard the following announcement:
Attention Northbound CTA riders. Due to an emergency at Addison, there will be no further northbound train service. Shuttle buses will be available to take you to Wilson.
and then, a few seconds later:
Attention Southbound CTA riders. Due to an emergency at Addison, no further southbound trains will run through this station. I repeat, this is the last train until further notice.
So we all got on the Brown Line train and I got to work at about 9:30. Upon arrival, I heard about this and this.
Guess the RTA is having a bad day.
perhaps they should buy up those tube recordings..
“Mind the gap!”
Except some of people around here will just get confused and end up getting hit more. Scary thing about the bus accident was the bus involved kept going. Apparently with those kind of buses hitting someone just sounds like another pothole. Except for the screaming.
Come on, people! How hard is it to avoid a large, heavy piece of metal and rubber traveling fairly fast and not really able to make last minute maneuvers to avoid you. Maybe those trains need airbags on front with popcorn inside. yum. oh, and think we’ll ever find out why those lines were closed? its was a police issue so its a bit doubtful.
Maybe it’s an underground terrorist cell attempting to disrupt our transportation infrastructure by throwing themselves under it. If that bus had stopped, the terrorists would have won!
Right, I’ll be going then…
